The Himalayan Awakening

Itinerary

Day byday.

Arrive and settle into your Himachali homestay. The house itself is an introduction — Kath-Kuni architecture, carved wood, and the smell of pine. A welcome dinner with your host family. Early evening walk in the village. The mountains are visible from every window.

A guided morning hike through hidden forest paths. No agenda, no race — just walking with someone who knows every tree and every story behind it. Afternoon village interaction — meet local families, understand how daily life runs in a Himachali mountain village, ask questions that matter to you.

A walk through the region's living culture — Pahadi traditions, local craftsmanship, the rhythms of a mountain community. Afternoon at the natural hot springs. Soak, rest, and let the altitude work out of your muscles. Your guide shares stories of the land while you walk back.

For those who want it: zipline, rappelling, or a short rock face. Optional, memorable, and run with proper safety support. Evening bonfire — local folklore, mountain myths, and conversation that wouldn't happen anywhere else. Storytelling as it was meant to be.

A walk through the area's temple landscape — ancient architecture, living worship, quiet courtyards. Your guide explains without reducing it to performance. A picnic lunch in a scenic spot chosen for its view, not its convenience. Unhurried, uncrowded, genuinely beautiful.

A traditional Himachali steam and herbal spa session — simple, restorative, and deeply local. The rest of the day is yours. A riverside walk if you want movement. A book on the verandah if you need rest. The mountains are not going anywhere.

Pack slowly. Eat breakfast without rushing. Help your host family with something if they'll let you. Say goodbye properly. Leave knowing the mountains — and this house — will be here when you return.

Kavita, Founder & Lead Guide of The Mountain Child

Your guide

Personally ledby Kavita.

Born in Haridwar, raised between the Ganges and her grandmother's hill house. Trained as a trek leader, then stepped away from agency tourism in 2019 to build something smaller, slower, more honest. The Mountain Child became real in 2021.

She knows every trail, every village elder, every hidden spot. But more importantly, she knows when to push you forward and when to let the mountains do the teaching.

I travel with The Mountain Child for seven years every year. I love the expertise, the local community Kavita makes us part of, the spiritual side where she guides us, her happiness in showing us the beautiful Indian nature, and the higher meaning she gives every step.
