A legendary motorcycle journey across some of the highest motorable roads on Earth.

A legendary motorcycle journey across some of the highest motorable roads on Earth. Ride through the Khardung La and Chang La passes, camp beside Pangong Lake under a billion stars, and navigate the raw beauty of Nubra Valley's sand dunes.

This is not a group tour with a rigid schedule. It's 14 days of freedom on two wheels, backed by a support crew that handles logistics so you can focus on the ride. Royal Enfields, open roads, and the kind of landscape that rewrites your sense of scale.

Ride the Roof of the World

Itinerary

Day byday.

Arrive in Leh, meet the team, meet your machine. A thorough rider briefing — not just road rules, but altitude, weather windows, and the specific demands of Himalayan riding. Rest. Tomorrow it begins.

A calibration day in the saddle. Shorter distances, roads around Leh, learning how altitude sits in your chest. A good sign that tomorrow you'll be ready.

One of the highest motorable roads on earth. Cold at the top. Thin air. Views worth every metre of the climb. Descent on the far side into the wide, unexpected beauty of Nubra Valley.

Sand dunes and snow peaks sharing the same frame. Optional off-road exploration for those who want it. Camp on the valley floor. Bactrian camels in the distance, if the season agrees.

The long ride to Pangong — one of the most iconic roads in India, and worth every kilometre. Arrive in the afternoon as the light turns the water from blue to silver to gold. Camp on the shore. Wake up to it all again.

A free morning at the lake. An afternoon ride along the northern edge — less travelled, more rewarding. Photography stops wherever the light is good.

Routes that don't appear on most itineraries. Village stops where the tea is strong and the people are curious about you. High passes between destinations that demand focus and reward it generously.

South through the Changthang plateau to Tso Moriri. Big riding days on long, open roads. The kind of riding that clears the mind of everything that isn't the road ahead.

The second great pass of the route. Stop at the top, turn around, and look at everything you have ridden through. A moment worth the entire journey.

Return to Leh through roads you now know by feel. Last photographs, last passes, last roadside chai. Group breakfast, route review, stories shared. Depart carrying the particular pride of someone who rode the Roof of the World.

Kavita, Founder & Lead Guide of The Mountain Child

Your guide

Personally ledby Kavita.

Born in Haridwar, raised between the Ganges and her grandmother's hill house. Trained as a trek leader, then stepped away from agency tourism in 2019 to build something smaller, slower, more honest. The Mountain Child became real in 2021.

She knows every trail, every village elder, every hidden spot. But more importantly, she knows when to push you forward and when to let the mountains do the teaching.

I travel with The Mountain Child for seven years every year. I love the expertise, the local community Kavita makes us part of, the spiritual side where she guides us, her happiness in showing us the beautiful Indian nature, and the higher meaning she gives every step.
